Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Heartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Nail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heartman comes to the cage accompanied by Heartman Theme song. Nail has chosen Ain't No Sunshine as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Heartman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Logan Nail!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nail throws a leg kick but Heartman sees it coming and moves out of range.
Nail takes a swing at Heartman's ribcage but misses.
Nail lands a jab to Heartman's midsection.
Logan Nail seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Heartman takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nail throws out a loose jab but Heartman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nail lands a nice hook to Heartman's body. Heartman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Heartman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Heartman wants to control but Nail is keeping him busy.
Nail tries to roll over but Heartman keeps him under control.
Heartman is looking to take a break and control but Nail is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Heartman is really struggling to control Nail but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Heartman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heartman passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nail wants to control but Heartman is having none of it.
Heartman misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Nail is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Heartman tries to control but Nail wriggling away.
Nail wants to hold on but Heartman pushes him away.
Heartman prevents Nail from getting the reversal.
Heartman fails to move to back control.
Heartman content just to control the position here.
Nail tries to hold on but Heartman pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heartman thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Nail wants to hold on but Heartman pushes him away.

Heartman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nail is surviving well by controlling Heartman's body position as best he can.
Heartman avoids the attempt from Nail to control.
Heartman trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Nail is desperately trying to improve his position but Heartman has a good base and remains in mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nail is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Nail tries to hold on but Heartman postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heartman throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Nail because Heartman loaded up on that one.

Nail defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Heartman.
Nail working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Heartman will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Heartman takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
An inside leg kick lands from Nail.
Nice sprawl there from Nail as Heartman shoots in.
Nail scores with a body shot.
Nail looks to score with a jab to the body but Heartman is just out of range.
Nail stuffs the takedown.
Heartman moves out of range as Nail strikes.
Nail lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Nail lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Nail.
Heartman takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Heartman on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Nail takes the fight into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Heartman tries to score a body lock takedown but Nail shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

It looks like John Heartman has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nail prevents the takedown attempt.

Nail lands a damaging elbow.
Nail stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Nail with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Nail pushes Heartman back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Heartman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nail avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nail lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Heartman takes a knee right on the jaw!
Nail lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Nail is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Nail creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Heartman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
The referee calls for Nail to work.
Nail with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Nail misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Heartman.
Heartman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nail is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Heartman letting Nail take a breather here.
Heartman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nail walks away with a smile on his face. Heartman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Heartman takes a kick to the side of the head.

Heartman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nail to the mat! Nail manages to get full guard.
Nail keeping moving, preventing Heartman from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Heartman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nail is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Heartman, into his guard.
Nail slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heartman wants to control but Nail passes easily into half guard.
Heartman wants to get back to full guard but Nail has passed into side control.
Heartman tries to hold on but Nail postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Heartman sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Nail showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on John Heartman's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Nice straight punches there by Nail. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Nail.
Nail keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nail is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Heartman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nail sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Heartman somewhat.
Nail throws a leg kick but Heartman checks it.
Nail scores with the left hand. Heartman knows he should have avoided that one.
Nail throws a big shot that misses.
Nail tests Heartman's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Heartman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Nail controlling the position for now.

Heartman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nail knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Nail is refusing to be controlled, as Heartman sits in half guard.
Heartman missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Nail makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nail.
Heartman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nail swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nail looking to control.
Heartman is looking to stand up but Nail won't let him.
Heartman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nail keeping moving, preventing Heartman from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nail lands with a nice body punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nail looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nail scoring well with a low kick there.

Nail connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Heartman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nail.
Logan Nail is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nail tries to clinch but Heartman is having none of it.
Nail throws a head kick but Heartman moves out of range.
Heartman on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Nail connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Nail connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Nail fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Heartman is out of range.

Logan Nail seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Heartman moves away from the strike by Nail.
Nail misses with a body shot.
Nail looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Nail jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A punch combination from Heartman misses.
Heartman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nail as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heartman is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nail ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Nail throws a leg kick but Heartman moved away.
Nail cracks a nice hook into Heartman's ribs.
Nail scores with a sloppy right hand. Heartman should have avoided that one.
Good standup being displayed there by Nail as he connects with a hook.
Nail misses with a hook.
Nail has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Heartman shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A left lands for Nail.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Nail!
Nail tries to close the distance and clinch but Heartman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nail cracks the inside of Heartman's front leg.

And that's the end of the fight!
Logan Nail comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nail has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
