PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Orange Chicken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul The Ribber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Ribber has chosen Oh no you didn't as his entrance music. Paul The Ribber told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Orange Chicken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul The Ribber!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chicken looks to throw the jab but The Ribber is out of range.

Chicken goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now The Ribber is on top in guard.
The Ribber is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Chicken looking for a guillotine here but The Ribber defends easily.

The Ribber wants to get up but he can't break Chicken's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Chicken wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The Ribber drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and The Ribber jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Chicken escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. The Ribber gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The Ribber trying to control the position from guard on top but Chicken is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The Ribber working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chicken doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chicken manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chicken got a little sloppy there for a moment and The Ribber has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chicken has managed to get both his arms back between The Ribber's legs - danger averted.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Paul The Ribber showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Chicken feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The Ribber is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Chicken has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Chicken!

Paul The Ribber comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think The Ribber has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
