The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasqez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Emelianenko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Emelianenko wants to stand up but Velasqez is controlling the position.
Velasqez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Emelianenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasqez keeps working.

Emelianenko is looking to stall here but Velasqez recovers full guard.
Emelianenko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Velasqez is looking to sinch up a triangle. Emelianenko throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Velasqez's body to avoid the submission. Velasqez has instead reached around Emelianenko's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Velasqez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
