Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rovan Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerben Ring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerben Ring has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rovan Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gerben Ring!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ring swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Turner moves in looking to clinch but Ring pushes him off.
Turner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Turner bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ring connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
The fight stays on the outside here - Turner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Turner tries to clinch but Ring moves out of range.
Ring waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Turner.

Turner rushes Ring and presses him up against the cage.
Turner lands with a right to the head.
Turner keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ring's efforts to push away.
Turner unloads a knee to the mid-section. Ring lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Ring swings wildly with an uppercut but Turner uses good head movement to avoid it.
Turner tries a knee to the head but Ring blocks it.
Turner putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Ring in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Turner scores a nice knee to the body.
Ring looks gassed!

Turner jumps guard and drags Ring to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Turner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Turner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ring is looking to escape.

Turner is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ring is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Turner wants to control but instead Ring manages to regain half guard.
Ring avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Turner.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ring manages to get to full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ring holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ring's guard.
Ring is trying to control but can't.
Turner wants to get back to his feet.
Ring gets back to full guard.
Turner throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Turner wants to stand and escape but instead Ring has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Turner wants to stand up but Ring is controlling him.

Ring wants to control from the top but Turner keeps moving.
Turner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ring stopping the sweep attempt from Turner.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ring swats away the attempt to clinch by Turner.
Turner walks into a straight right hand from Ring.
Turner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ring as he jumps to the side.
Ring swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ring throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Turner tries to clinch there but Ring circles away.
Rovan Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner shoots in looking for a takedown. Ring tries to sprawl out of it but Turner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ring manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ring throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Turner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ring paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Turner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Turner misses with a looping left.
Turner avoids the body shot from Ring.
Ring clobbers Turner with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Turner is looking to clinch.
Turner tries to close the distance and clinch but Ring swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ring tries to bum rush Turner with a series of wild strikes but Turner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Turner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ring bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Turner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ring throws out the jab.
Ring shoots in but no luck this time.
Turner wants to clinch up but Ring keeps it at a distance.
Ring connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rovan Turner dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ring fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Turner looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Turner scores with a leg kick.
Ring throws a shot to the body.
Turner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ring misses the shot to the body.
Turner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Turner has a takedown stuffed.
Ring swings for the body but Turner moves out of range.
Ring stuns Turner with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rovan Turner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Turner fails with an attempt to clinch.
Turner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ring swings for the body but Turner moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Turner, as that shot connected.

Turner rushes Ring and presses him up against the cage.
Turner lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Turner tries to pull guard but Ring holds him up against the cage and eventually Turner drops back down to his feet.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Turner takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Turner misses with a knee strike.

Turner blocks an uppercut.
Turner lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Turner tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ring smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rovan Turner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Turner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ring as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Turner tries to clinch there but Ring circles away.
Ring misses with a body shot.
Ring tests Turner's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ring misses with a straight right.
Ring's corner calls for a 1-2. Ring obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Turner tries to clinch up.
Ring lands with a hook. Turner tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Turner avoids the body shot from Ring.
Turner throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ring counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ring paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ring misses the shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ring misses with a wild body shot.
Ring throws a hook but Turner avoids it easily.
Ring jabs Turner right on the nose. Turner blinks but takes it well.
Turner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ring moves into range and connects with a jab.
Ring avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Turner wants to clinch but Ring slips to the side
enabling Ring to counter with a crisp jab.
Ring takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ring bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turner's guard.
Turner wants to stand and escape but Ring is having none of it.

Ring stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Turner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Turner uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Good exchange - Ring coming out on top.
Ring fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Turner manages to avoid it.
Turner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Turner tries to clinch there but Ring circles away.
Ring misses with a straight right.
Ring swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ring lands a nice shot to the body.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Turner takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Turner ducks under a wild hook from Ring.
Turner swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ring avoids the head kick by Turner.
Turner tries to clinch up but Ring circles away and keeps his distance.
Ring misses with an uppercut. Turner saw that one coming.
Turner takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ring moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Ring throws a jab when Turner was well out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ring.
The fighters circling - Ring throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Turner loads up on a big right hand but Ring slips the punch.
Ring throws a hook to the side of Turner's head but Turner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Turner moves out of range as Ring strikes.

Turner is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Ring is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Turner lands a nice knee to the body.

Turner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Turner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ring is looking to escape.

Ring is wriggling around trying to escape.

Turner is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ring has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ring!
Turner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ring is controlling him.

Ring throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Turner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ring accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Turner pulls Ring in close to prevent any damage.
Turner wants to stand and escape but Ring is having none of it.
Turner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Turner tries to get out of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Turner forces Ring back against the cage and clinches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ring.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Turner as Ring tries to tie him up.

Turner pulls guard.
Ring trying to control the position from guard on top but Turner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Turner kicks Ring off and gets to his feet.
Turner goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Turner instigates a clinch.
Ring works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Gerben Ring has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ring stalling in the clinch but Turner improves position.
Turner tries to pull guard but Ring holds him up against the cage and eventually Turner drops back down to his feet.
Ring has a couple of punches blocked by Turner.
Turner throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ring blocks it with crossed arms.
Ring tries to pull guard but Turner won't allow it.
Ring has a couple of punches blocked by Turner.
Ring tries a body shot but Turner blocks it.
Rovan Turner has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Ring tries to throw a body punch but Turner avoids it by throwing Ring back against the cage.
Ring struggles to land a body shot inside as Turner controls his hands.

Rovan Turner showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Turner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
