Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jejomar Binay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Bainite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bert Bainite is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jejomar Binay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bert Bainite!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Binay looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bainite avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bainite bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Binay smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Binay missing with a left hand there. Bainite was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Binay fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Bainite gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bainite tries to clinch but Binay moves out of range.
Bainite drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Bainite shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Binay is trying to defend but Bainite finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Bainite fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Binay, pushing him back against the ropes.
Bainite tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Bainite works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Bainite postures up in Binay's guard and throws a big left but Binay blocks it.
Bainite's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Well, if Bainite is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bainite avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bainite.
Bainite slows the pace down.

Bainite fails to land a wild elbow strike.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bainite stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bainite tries to clinch up but Binay circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A left lands for Binay.
Bert Bainite is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bainite clinches with his opponent.
Binay can't break the clinch.
Bainite has Binay pressed against the ropes, preventing Binay from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The referee is keeping an eye on Bainite - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Bainite breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Bainite counters by moving into the clinch.
Bainite has Binay pressed against the ropes, preventing Binay from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bainite takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Bainite has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bainite is looking to advance position but Binay won't allow it.

Binay is trying to stand up here but Bainite is controlling him well.
Bainite throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Bainite decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Bainite moves in looking to clinch but Binay pushes him off.

Binay takes an elbow to the forehead.

Bainite breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bainite stands up and beckons Binay to his feet.
Bainite fails with an attempt to clinch.
Binay shoots and misses
and Bainite counters with a good low kick that Binay was not able to check.

Bainite closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bainite lands in his opponent's guard.

Bainite postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bert Bainite showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Bainite shoots for a takedown but Binay saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A punch lands to the side of Bainite 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Bainite decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Binay's guard.

Bainite seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bainite is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Binay!
Binay wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bainite.
Bainite sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Bainite lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Bert Bainite is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Bert Bainite just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bainite fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Bainite holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jejomar Binay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Binay tries to break free but Bainite pushes him back against the ropes.
Binay wants to get back to striking at distance but Bainite won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bert Bainite comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bainite has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
