Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Foot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Diaz's choice of entrance music: Take My Hand. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Foot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz checks a low kick from Foot.
Foot lands a head kick. Diaz smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Horrible takedown by Foot or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz which made him look bad.

Foot gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Foot dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Foot misses with an elbow strike.
Foot pushes off an throws an elbow but Diaz leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Diaz misses with a knee to the head.

Foot's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Foot misses with a body shot.
Foot tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Foot forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches.
Foot has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Diaz avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Foot scores with a nice short uppercut.
Foot prevents a takedown attempt there.
Diaz using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Foot has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Diaz misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Foot.
Diaz misses with an elbow over the top.
Diaz is pressed up against the cage. Foot has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Diaz down to the mat. Diaz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Foot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Foot clinches.

Foot's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Diaz wants to clinch but Foot slips to the side

and Foot counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Foot wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working.
Diaz gets back to full guard.
Foot stays in close to Diaz's body and controls the position.
Foot thows a big elbow that misses.

Foot stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Foot fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Foot counters by moving into the clinch.
Diaz misses with a knee to the head.
Foot scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Foot breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Diaz fails with an attempt to clinch.

Foot lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Foot pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Foot shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard.

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Foot can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Foot passes Diaz's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Foot is taking a breather. Diaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foot decides to stand and escape the position.

Diaz gets caught flat footed, as Foot shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Foot decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Foot shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard.
Foot lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Foot connects with a couple of short punches.
Foot passes Diaz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Foot is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Diaz throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foot lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Foot is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Foot working over Diaz with some ground and pound. Diaz looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Foot lands a nice short elbow.
Diaz is not content to let Foot control the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Foot wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Foot lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Foot scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Foot tries to pass the half guard into mount. Diaz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Foot counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Foot on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Foot throws out a leg kick but Diaz moves out of range and Foot only half commits.

Foot clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the cage.

Foot manages to break the clinch.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Foot as he jumps to the side.

Diaz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
George Foot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
Foot drops down looking for an ankle pick but Diaz pulls his leg out and moves away.
George Foot is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Foot rushes Diaz and presses him up against the cage.

Foot is trying to trip Diaz. He has hold of a leg but Diaz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Foot persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Foot stands up and waves to Diaz to follow him.

Foot closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.
Diaz tries to land knees in the clinch but Foot avoids the damage to the body.

Foot controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.
Foot has control of Diaz's left arm, preventing Diaz from doing any damage.
Foot avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Diaz throws a strike but Foot rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Horrible takedown by Foot or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz which made him look bad.

so Foot counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Foot sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Diaz's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Foot is taking a breather. Diaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Foot wants to get back to his feet.

Foot is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Foot to get the leverage.
Foot wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy.
Foot is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Diaz can do to turn this around?

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Foot here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Diaz wants to control but Foot is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Foot is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Diaz's half guard.
Diaz is refusing to be controlled, as Foot sits in half guard.

Diaz has hold of Foot's hands but Foot slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Foot is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer.

Diaz manages to get to full guard.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but Foot pushes his legs off easily.
Foot stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Foot looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Foot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Diaz is trying desperately to improve position.

Nick Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
George Foot is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Foot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diaz for as long as he can get away with.
George Foot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee stands the fighters back up. George Foot just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Foot closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Foot getting side control.
Foot is pressing down on Diaz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Diaz is holding on for now.
Diaz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Foot content to control rather than advance.
Diaz gets full guard.

Diaz has his foot on Foot's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Foot works his way back into a safe position though.

George Foot showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Foot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
