PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rory Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mwai Kibaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kibaki has chosen Machine Head as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rory Owen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mwai Kibaki!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Kibaki.
Owen looks to land a right hand but Kibaki moved out of range.
Owen misses with a hook. Kibaki ducked under it nicely.
Kibaki moves out of range of the strikes.
Owen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kibaki slips under a jab from Owen.
Owen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Owen is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Kibaki's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Owen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Owen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kibaki uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Owen.
Kibaki takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Owen checks a leg kick.
Owen cracks Kibaki with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nice shot lands for Kibaki.
Owen scores with a sloppy right hand. Kibaki should have avoided that one.
Owen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rory Owen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Owen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Owen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kibaki punishes Owen's body with a nice straight punch.
Kibaki uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Owen.
Owen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kibaki finds it's way round the side to connect with Owen's head.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kibaki.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kibaki scores with a nice right hand.
Owen throws the left hand but Kibaki avoids the punch easily.
Kibaki seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Owen shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Kibaki is backing up but Owen catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Kibaki covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Owen Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rory Owen!
