Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Tanner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Danek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maximus Danek is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Tanner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Tanner looks to land a right hand but Danek moved out of range.

Danek shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tanner's guard.

Danek gets to his feet. Tanner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Tanner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Danek paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Danek is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tanner has escaped the position, nice work there.

Danek stands up and beckons Tanner to his feet.
Tanner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Danek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tanner tries to avoid it but Danek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tanner to the ground. Tanner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Danek keeps the fight on the outside.

Danek shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tanner napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Danek shoots in looking for a takedown. Tanner tries to sprawl out of it but Danek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tanner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Danek changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tanner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Danek wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tanner, who protects the arm well.

Tanner is working for takedown but Danek is calmly controlling the position for now.

Tanner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Danek fights it off and pushes away nicely.

so Danek counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Danek is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Tanner is working an open guard so Danek takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Danek stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Danek fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tanner sprawls well initially but Danek persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Danek takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Tanner kicks off Danek and gets to his feet.

Danek shoots in and bounces Tanner off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Danek drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tanner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Danek has Tanner in his guard.

Danek manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tanner manages to get himself to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Maximus Danek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tanner drops back, looking for a kneebar! Danek looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Danek looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Danek!

Danek thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Danek has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Danek looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Danek passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Tanner!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Danek is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tanner can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
