Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dan Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe West!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor misses with a hook.
Connor cracks West with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
West lands with a nice body kick.
West fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Connor.
Connor fails to land with a series of punches.
A shot to de liver by West. Beautiful body shot.
Connor throws a series of punches but West moves out of range.
Connor throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Connor misses the shot to the body.
West scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Connor doesn't seem bothered though.

West lands a head kick. Connor smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Some wild striking there from West.
Connor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but West moves away.
West lands a glancing blow to the side of Connor's head.
West stuns Connor with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Connor drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Connor tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard.
Connor is breathing heavily.
West seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Connor looking to sit in guard and control but West gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Connor is looking for a triangle but West pushes his legs off easily.
West is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Connor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
West sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Connor's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Connor is looking to control West's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Connor avoid being mounted?

West takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

West avoids the attempt from Connor to control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Connor is wriggling around trying to escape.
West avoids the attempt from Connor to control.
Connor working to try and regain half guard.
West controlling from mount.
Connor is desperately trying to improve his position but West has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


West connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Connor falls off balance throwing a combination
and West counters with a series of strikes. Connor will be more careful next time no doubt.
Connor drops his hands momentarily and West takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Connor swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Connor gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling West to counter with a crisp jab.
Decent striking displayed by West there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Connor takes a shot to the body in his stride.
West tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Connor avoids the head kick by West.
Connor misses with a combination
and West counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
West fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
West scores with a one two! Connor had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
West throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


Connor is rocked!

West gets caught flat footed, as Connor shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Oh Connor is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Connor won't allow West to sweep him here.
Connor seems to have got his legs back now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Connor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

West pulls Connor in to control the position.
West looking to hit a scissor sweep but Connor is one step ahead there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Connor throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Connor throws and elbow that misses. West uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Connor's guard. Nice move by West!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
West controlling the action here.
Connor wants to improve his position but West is controlling well.
Connor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. West is working away from the top position though.

West is trying to control. Connor wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Connor looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

West wants to stand up but Connor has a hold of him and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
West is looking to take a break and control but Connor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
West throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Connor walks into a straight right hand from West.
Joe West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
West with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Danga de danga de dang - West scores with a four punch combination!
Connor takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
West lands a jab.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

West drops Connor with a beautiful combination! Connor stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - West is looking for the KO!
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from West! Connor is out on his feet! West rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Connor is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Connor is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe West!
