The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ninja throws a right and a left that Tavares avoids nicely.
Tavares fails with an attempt to clinch.
Tavares tries to clinch but Ninja is having none of it.
Tavares moves in looking to clinch but Ninja pushes him off.
Tavares keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tavares fails to land with a series of punches.
Ninja misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tavares.
Tavares lands a head shot.
Tavares on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Ninja waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tavares.
Ninja steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Tavares. That one must have hurt.
Tavares lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ninja circles away quickly and effectively.
Ninja looks to land a left hand but Tavares moved out of range nicely.
Ninja scores with a one two! Tavares had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Ninja throws a series of punches but Tavares avoids them all with ease.

Ninja closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tavares to the mat! Tavares manages to get full guard.

Ninja won't allow Tavares to get back to his feet.
Tavares trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Ninja trying to control but Tavares is working from the bottom.
Ninja pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tavares is keeping the position for now.
Tavares is looking to stand up but Ninja isn't so interested in that idea.
Ninja forces his way into half guard.
Ninja is taking a breather. Tavares says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ninja works his foot free and advances to mount.
Tavares trying desperately to get to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ninja controlling the position easily from mount.
Ninja trying to control but Tavares is having none of it.

Ninja with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ninja is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tavares has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tavares!

Ninja has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Tavares doesn't defend quickly enough and Ninja has managed to lock this one up! Can Tavares escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ninja on a fantastic submission victory.
