Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Konovalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Nom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oleg Konovalov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, King Nom!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Konovalov looks to land a right hand but Nom moved out of range.
Nom steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Konovalov.

Nom drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nom throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nom throws a big right hand that misses.
Nom trying to control the position from guard on top but Konovalov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nom stays in close to Konovalov's body and controls the position.
Konovalov wants to stand and escape but Nom is having none of it.
Nom is looking to work some ground and pound but Konovalov has wrist control.

Nom in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Konovalov throws a hook to the side of Nom's head but Nom sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Nom breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nom uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Konovalov.
Nom slips a straight right by Konovalov.

Nom defending well as Konovalov loads up on a big left hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nom.
Konovalov jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Konovalov is breathing heavily.
Konovalov tries to bum rush Nom with a series of wild strikes but Nom uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Konovalov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nom.

Nom shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nom was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nom jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Konovalov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Nom creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Konovalov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Nom fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Konovalov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nom on the ground.
Konovalov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Konovalov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nom tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nom has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Konovalov is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Nom is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Konovalov's shoulder. That is not cool.
Konovalov parries the strikes from Nom easily there. Nom is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Konovalov to escape.
Konovalov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Konovalov tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nom looks up at the clock and then as Konovalov takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Nom smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Nom lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Nom dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Nom shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nom tries to free his leg and advance position but Konovalov is retaining full guard.
Nom loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Nom postures up in Konovalov's guard and throws a big left but Konovalov blocks it.

Nom is looking to take a break and control but Konovalov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

King Nom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Nom shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nom showed some decent athleticism there.
Konovalov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Nom tries to pass the half guard into mount. Konovalov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Nom content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Nom throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Still in half guard, Nom seems content to control.
Konovalov has hold of Nom's hands but Nom slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Nom is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Konovalov is staying active underneath Nom, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nom throwing shots but Konovalov is blocking nicely.

King Nom has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nom seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Nom moves into full mount! Konovalov won't be happy about that!
King Nom is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Nom takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Despite being in the dominant position, King Nom just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Konovalov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nom to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Nom slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

King Nom comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Nom winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
