Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Kreese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Panu Palomies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Panu Palomies has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Kreese's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Kreese!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Panu Palomies!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kreese moves into the clinch.
Kreese stalling against the cage.
Palomies lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kreese backwards.
Palomies makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Palomies swings wildly with an uppercut but Kreese uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kreese is trying to trip Palomies. He has hold of a leg but Palomies is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kreese persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Palomies is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kreese defends well.
Kreese trying to control the position from guard on top but Palomies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Palomies wants to sweep here but Kreese controlling him for the moment.
Palomies keeping moving, preventing Kreese from controlling successfully.

Palomies has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kreese is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Palomies.
Palomies looks to move to half guard but instead Kreese has passed into mount! Damn!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Palomies tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Palomies is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kreese lands a big elbow.
Palomies wants to hold on but Kreese pushes him away.
Kreese knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palomies on the ground.
Palomies keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kreese controlling from mount.
Kreese prevents Palomies from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kreese lands a nice shot to the head.
Kreese is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Palomies can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kreese tries to control but Palomies wriggling away.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kreese dominating with strikes here.
Palomies is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kreese raining down shots from the mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Palomies is wriggling around trying to escape.
Palomies wants to hold on but Kreese pushes him away.
Palomies is squirming around, avoiding Kreese's attempts to control the action.
Kreese takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Palomies is trying to escape the mount.
Kreese punishing his opponent with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Palomies is looking to get to half guard.
Palomies tries to hold on but Kreese postures up.
Palomies is working to get back to half guard.
Kreese with the ground and pound from mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kreese controlling from mount.
Kreese landing punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Kreese dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kreese tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Palomies paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Palomies is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kreese closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Palomies did well to prevent Kreese getting side control.
Palomies is looking to improve his position.
Kreese is nestled in close to Palomies, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Palomies is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Palomies is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kreese's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kreese's back!

Kreese is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Palomies gets his way!
Kreese is trying to break free.

Palomies working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
I really don't envy Kreese right now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Palomies is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kreese is working hard here to advance position.

Palomies is looking for the choke from the back position but Kreese is controlling his hands well.
Palomies has the hooks in. Kreese is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Palomies is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kreese has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Palomies has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kreese taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Palomies doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Panu Palomies!
Panu Palomies is the new bantamweight champion!
