Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Austin Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Pursey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Austin Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Darren Pursey!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers clinches.

Powers lands a takedown into guard.

Pursey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pursey keeping moving, preventing Powers from controlling successfully.
Powers wants to pass the guard but Pursey is keeping the position.

Pursey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Powers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Powers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pursey can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Powers controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Powers gets to his feet - Pursey follows without any prompting.
Powers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pursey as he jumps to the side.

and Powers decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pursey's guard.

Pursey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Powers defends well.
Pursey keeping full guard, as Powers tries to pass.
Powers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Powers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Powers looking to sit in guard and control but Pursey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pursey postures up.

Pursey drops back, looking for a kneebar! Powers looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Powers looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Powers!

Powers working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Powers is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pursey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Pursey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Powers is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pursey tries to improve position but can't.

Powers is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pursey has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Powers is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pursey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Pursey manages to get back to half guard.
Pursey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Powers is looking to take a break and control but Pursey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Powers tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pursey knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Pursey looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Powers sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pursey defending well though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Powers wants to free his trapped foot but Pursey is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are battling for position here. Pursey manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Powers not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Powers trying to control but Pursey is working from the bottom.

Pursey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Powers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Powers distracts Pursey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Pursey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Powers defends well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Powers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Austin Powers will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Powers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Powers tries to close the distance and clinch but Pursey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pursey circles away from the clinch attempt.

Powers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Powers is looking to take a break and control but Pursey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Powers is really struggling to control Pursey but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Pursey is looking to reverse the position.

Powers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pursey gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pursey regains full guard. Nicely done.

Pursey has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Powers should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pursey has tightened it up now! Powers should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
