The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMillan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Mitchel throws a hook but McMillan blocks it.
McMillan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mitchel thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mitchel lands with a straight right. McMillan didn't see that one coming.
McMillan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Mitchel stuffs the takedown attempt from McMillan. McMillan gets slowly back to his feet.
McMillan shoots in but Mitchel avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mitchel scores with a punch to the head.
Mitchel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McMillan thows a left - swing and a miss!
McMillan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Mitchel wants to clinch.
McMillan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

McMillan misses with a jab, cross combination.
McMillan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McMillan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Luke Mitchel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson McMillan.
McMillan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McMillan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Luke Mitchel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mitchel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McMillan.
Mitchel lands a nice looking body shot.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

McMillan has Mitchel pressed against the cage, preventing Mitchel from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

McMillan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McMillan tries for a takedown but Mitchel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Mitchel moves out of range as McMillan strikes.
Mitchel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McMillan manages to avoid it.
McMillan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Mitchel misses the body punch

and McMillan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mitchel wants to stand but McMillan is controlling the position.
McMillan trying to control the position from guard on top but Mitchel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mitchel wants to stand up but McMillan is controlling him.

McMillan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McMillan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mitchel is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
McMillan passes Mitchel's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Mitchel is in trouble now - McMillan has advanced to mount!

McMillan is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mitchel is surviving well by controlling McMillan's body position as best he can.
