Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tsuyoshi Tamatso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes to the cage accompanied by E ala E. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, BJ Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tsuyoshi Tamatso!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn fails to land the takedown.
Tamatso throws a low kick but it's checked well by Penn.
Tamatso is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Penn needs to keep his hands up - Tamatso had a free shot at his head there.
Tamatso fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tamatso tries to bum rush Penn with a series of wild strikes but Penn uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tamatso wants to clinch up but Penn keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tamatso missing with a left hand there. Penn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Tamatso shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Penn counters with a stiff right hand.

Tamatso throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

and Penn counters with a takedown into side control.

Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tamatso, who protects the arm well.
Penn tries to score with some ground and pound. Tamatso controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Penn is stalling here. Tamatso is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Penn seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Tamatso has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Penn wants to control but Tamatso postures up.
Penn takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Tamatso thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tamatso is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tamatso lands an elbow.
Tamatso wants to control but Penn is keeping him busy.

Tamatso is trying to get an arm triangle but Penn is defending well.
Penn is trying to control Tamatso's posture but Tamatso avoids it.
Tamatso lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Penn down.
Penn tries to bench press Tamatso off him but Tamatso keeps the position.

Tamatso content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn is looking to regain half guard here but Tamatso keeps moving and retains side control.

Tamatso is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tsuyoshi Tamatso will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tamatso turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Tamatso swings away with a leg kick that misses.

and Tamatso counters with a slapping leg kick.
Penn bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

A looping hook to the body misses from Tamatso. Penn does a little dance to reset his feet.

Penn regains half guard there - taking advantage of Tamatso's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Penn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tamatso's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tamatso's back!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tamatso doesn't manage to clinch there - Penn circles away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tamatso goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Penn shoots and misses
and Tamatso counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BJ Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Penn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tamatso counters with a nice double leg into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tamatso stands up over Penn, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Tamatso stands up and waves to Penn to follow him.
Tamatso tries to clinch but Penn moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tsuyoshi Tamatso showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Penn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Penn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Tamatso.
Penn shoots and misses

Tamatso cracks the inside of Penn's front leg.
Tamatso takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Penn looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Oh Penn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like BJ Penn has been cut.

Tamatso darts in and clinches Penn up against the cage.
Penn seems to have got his legs back now.
Tamatso lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tamatso tries to land a knee to the head but Penn blocks with his arms.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tamatso creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Tamatso lands a good knee to the midsection. Penn won't want to take too many of those.

Tamatso manages to break the clinch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Tamatso.

Penn tries to keep at a distance but Tamatso has taken the fight into the clinch.
Penn's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Tamatso lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Tamatso's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tamatso drags the fight down to the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Penn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Penn lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Penn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tamatso seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Tamatso not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Tamatso is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tamatso to get the leverage.
Penn moves into full guard.
Tamatso preventing the sweep.
Tamatso is in close to Penn's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Tamatso is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Penn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tamatso's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

And that's the end of the fight!
Tsuyoshi Tamatso comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tamatso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
