Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Markku Osteri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Whizzer Oz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Osteri might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rolling Stones - Symphaty For The Devil. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Markku Osteri! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Whizzer Oz! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Osteri thows a left - swing and a miss! Oz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Osteri as he avoids it easily. Osteri shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Oz defends it nicely. Oz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Osteri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Oz somewhat. Osteri scores with a jab to the head.
Oz misses with a takedown attempt and Osteri counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Markku Osteri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Whizzer Oz. Osteri postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Osteri throws and elbow that misses. Oz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Osteri's guard. Nice move by Oz! Osteri throws a couple of heel strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Osteri wants to sweep but no luck. Osteri is working hard here to advance position. Oz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Oz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Osteri is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Osteri trying to keep a closed guard but Oz is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Osteri controlling the position. Oz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Oz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Oz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Oz postures up in Osteri's guard and throws a big left but Osteri blocks it. Oz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Osteri is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Oz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Osteri was covering up waiting for the punch and Oz finishes the takedown easily into guard. Osteri looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Oz lands a couple of decent looking shots. Osteri looking to hit a scissor sweep but Oz is one step ahead there. Osteri is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Osteri thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Oz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Osteri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oz keeps working. Osteri looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Osteri wants to free his trapped foot but Oz is holding on for dear life with his legs. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Oz can do anything to dispel that myth. Osteri throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Osteri has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Osteri is trying to work for a kimura but Oz is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Oz is trying to stand up here but Osteri is controlling him well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Oz tries for a takedown but Osteri circles away easily and Osteri counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Oz's guard now. Osteri is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Osteri tries to free his leg and advance position but Oz is retaining full guard. Osteri throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Oz works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Osteri trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Osteri is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Osteri trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Oz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Osteri. Osteri working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Oz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Osteri is controlling him. Osteri trying to control but Oz is working from the bottom. Osteri keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Oz's head. Osteri trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Osteri trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Markku Osteri dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Oz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Oz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Osteri sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Oz moves forwards but Osteri connects with a nice, crisp jab. Oz gets the takedown into side control. Osteri is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Oz off and has taken his back! Osteri punches the canvas rather than the man. Osteri misses with a punch to the head. Osteri lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Oz hold on?!
Osteri is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

That's one minute gone in the round. Osteri lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Osteri with good strikes from the mount here! Osteri takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Osteri lands a big shot there that rocks Oz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Osteri is in the full mount, landing strikes. Osteri tries to control but Oz wriggling away. Osteri unloads with some shots from mount but Oz bucks and avoids them well.

Oz is squirming around, avoiding Osteri's attempts to control the action. Osteri sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Oz trying desperately to get to his feet.
