The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Alves is looking to get back to full guard here but Parton has managed to pass to side control instead.
Alves manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Alves trying to hold on to Parton's head to control him but Parton postures up.
Alves moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Parton preventing the sweep.

Alves is looking for a sweep. Parton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Parton wants to pass the guard but Alves is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parton is one step ahead there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Alves thows a left - swing and a miss!
The fighters circle momentarily. Parton darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Parton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves looking for subs off his back but Parton has passed one foot through into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alves trying to control but Parton postures up.

Alves looks to land a combination but Parton avoids it well.
Parton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alves sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Parton shoots in and bounces Alves off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Alves has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Parton doesn't defend quickly enough and Alves has managed to lock this one up! Can Parton escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Alves on a fantastic submission victory.
