PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Durante Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Wuzz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wuzz has chosen Lützenkirchen - Cairo on Acid as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wuzz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Durante Jr wants to get back to full guard but Wuzz has mounted him!

Wuzz jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Durante Jr is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Durante Jr and Wuzz has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Wuzz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Durante Jr has escaped the position, nice work there.
Durante Jr is looking to reverse the position.

Wuzz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wuzz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Durante Jr tries to bench press Wuzz off him but Wuzz keeps the position.

Wuzz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Durante Jr, who protects the arm well.

Wuzz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Durante Jr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wuzz tries for a kimura but Durante Jr is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durante Jr is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Wuzz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wuzz is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Wuzz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Durante Jr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wuzz has Durante Jr in his guard.

Durante Jr drops back looking for a leg! Wuzz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wuzz manages to kick Durante Jr off! Durante Jr jumps back into Wuzz's guard.

Wuzz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Durante Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Durante Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
