The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
payne shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bova sprawls well. Bova wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. payne gets slowly back to his feet.
payne gets the takedown into side control.
Bova is trying to control payne's posture but payne avoids it.
Bova tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but payne wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bova takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Tony Bova has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of max payne.
payne looks to score with a jab to the body but Bova is just out of range.
payne tries to clinch but Bova is having none of it.

payne is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fight stays on the outside here - payne looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
