The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mesquita rushes Jorome and presses him up against the cage.
Mesquita tries for a takedown but Jorome manages to get underhooks.
Jorome is pressed up against the cage. Mesquita has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jorome down to the mat. Jorome avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jorome throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Mesquita looks gassed!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Jorome - that will leave a mark!

Jorome sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Mesquita to the ground! Jorome dives into full mount looking to finish!

It looks like Julio Mesquita has been cut.

Jorome has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jay Jorome just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Look low, kick high! Jorome uses the oldest trick in the book to send Mesquita tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Jorome is absolutely delighted - when Mesquita wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
