PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Fritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Doyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fritz comes into the arena with Metallica - Enter Sandman blaring out of the sound system. Greg Doyle will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fritz checks the leg kick nicely there.
Fritz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Doyle.
Fritz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Doyle takes a swing at Fritz's ribcage but misses.
Doyle is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fritz.
Doyle lands a body shot.

Doyle throws a hook but Fritz blocks it.

Fritz is working for a guillotine from mount but Doyle frees his head quite easily.

Fritz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Doyle is now in Fritz's guard. A big mistake from Fritz there, giving up the dominant position!

Doyle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fritz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fritz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Doyle is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fritz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Doyle's back instead.

Fritz is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Doyle knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Doyle for a finish.

Doyle plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Doyle throws out a loose jab but Fritz uses good head movement to avoid it.

Fritz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Doyle pinned against the cage. Doyle gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fritz shoots in looking for a takedown. Doyle tries to sprawl out of it but Fritz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Doyle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fritz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fritz showed some decent athleticism there.
Fritz passes the guard and advances to mount!

Doyle defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Fritz.

Doyle is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Fritz has taken his back.

Fritz is not going to allow Doyle to sit and survive in this position.
Doyle seems to have recovered his senses.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Fritz looking to break Doyle's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Doyle remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Fritz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Fritz is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Doyle is defending well though. Fritz let's go of the attempt for now.
