Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Koron Maafi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takayuki Okubo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koron Maafi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takayuki Okubo!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Okubo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Horrible takedown by Maafi or perhaps it was just good defense by Okubo which made him look bad.
A right-left combo lands from Okubo.
A head kick misses from Maafi.
Maafi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Okubo swivels and escapes.
Okubo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maafi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Okubo circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koron Maafi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some wild striking there from Okubo.
Maafi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Okubo feints and as Maafi raises his hands in defense, Okubo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Okubo counters with a shoot takedown. Maafi fights it but they end up in guard.

Maafi closes the distance and clinches up with Okubo, looking for a takedown. Maafi pushes Okubo against the ropes but Okubo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Okubo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Maafi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Okubo.

Okubo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Koron Maafi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Okubo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Maafi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Okubo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maafi tries to kick Okubo off but Okubo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Maafi looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Okubo swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Okubo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Okubo is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Okubo is trying desperately to improve position.
Maafi tries to control but Okubo wriggling away.
Maafi wants to get back to his feet but Okubo is holding on tight.

The cut man is working on Takayuki Okubo's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Okubo has control of Maafi's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Maafi regains control of the situation pretty easily.

You get the feeling that Maafi really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Despite being in the dominant position, Takayuki Okubo just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Takayuki Okubo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Okubo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
