Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Latka Gravas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnaud Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savage has chosen BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden" as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Latka Gravas!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arnaud Savage!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gravas takes the fight into the clinch.

Savage lands a takedown into guard.
Savage scoring with punches to the head and body.
Gravas controlling Savage's posture.
Gravas is trying to control the position but Savage postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Savage postures up in Gravas's guard and throws a big left but Gravas blocks it.

Gravas pulls Savage in to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Savage postures up.
Savage throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gravas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gravas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gravas throws a body punch but Savage moves out of range.

Savage shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gravas's guard.

Savage drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gravas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Savage has Gravas in his guard.
Savage can't keep his opponent in guard - Gravas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Savage wants to get back to full guard.
Gravas passes the guard and advances to mount!
Savage bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Savage thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Savage works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Savage is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Gravas reverses the position - he's now on top in Savage's guard.

Savage sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gravas's guard.
Savage is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gravas!
Savage cracks Gravas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gravas can't escape the position.
Gravas holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Savage tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gravas really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Savage is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gravas is surviving well by controlling Savage's body position as best he can.
Gravas is trying desperately to improve position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Savage with shots to the head and body - Gravas looks very uncomfortable down there.
Gravas gets back to half guard.
Savage tries to pass to full mount but Gravas defends it.

Savage seems to be working for a kimura but Gravas defends the submission attempt.
Savage looks gassed!
Gravas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Savage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Savage thows a huge punch but Gravas dodges it nicely.
Gravas blocking the ground and pound attempt from Savage.
Gravas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gravas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arnaud Savage dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Savage pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gravas doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Savage counters with a big head kick but Gravas shrugs it off.

Savage pushes Gravas up against the cage in a clinch.
Savage tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Savage is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gravas manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Savage drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Savage jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Savage postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gravas pulls Savage in to control the position.
Gravas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Savage!
Savage keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gravas looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Gravas prevents Savage from getting the reversal.
Savage is breathing heavily.

Gravas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Savage can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Savage tries to reverse the position but Gravas maintains control.

Gravas working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Savage looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Gravas! Submission of the night perhaps?
