PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Olki Nukke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Hach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Olki Nukke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Quinton Hach!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hach staying out of range there.
A lazy left from Hach finds it's target.
Hach lands with a kick to the ribs.
Hach scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Nukke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hach circles away quickly and effectively.
Hach cracks Nukke with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nukke fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A slow jab from Hach misses its intended target.

Hach shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nukke's guard.
Nukke looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hach is one step ahead there.
Nukke is adopting a defensive guard.

Hach postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nukke is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hach, into his guard.

Hach working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nukke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nukke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nukke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hach works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nukke showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Nukke postures up and lands a big shot to Hach's brow.
Hach looking for a sweep. Not yet Hach, not yet.
Nukke wants to get up but he can't break Hach's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nukke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nukke misses with a series of wild punches.
Hach lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hach tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nukke swivels and escapes.
Nukke shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hach.
Nukke is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Nukke keeping his opponent close.
Nukke sneaks back into half guard.
Hach passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nukke!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nukke is working to get back to half guard.
Hach thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Nukke wants to hold on but Hach pushes him away.

Hach wants to finish this one by submission but Nukke is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hach.
Hach punching from mount but Nukke doing a good job of avoiding damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hach wants to control but instead Nukke manages to regain half guard.

Hach is looking for a kimura but Nukke is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hach to get the leverage.
Hach trying to control the pace.
Hach tries to pass to full mount but Nukke defends it.

Hach is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nukke is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Hach dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Hach scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Nukke sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hach seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nukke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hach might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nukke kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hach content to control rather than advance.
Hach throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hach wants to control but Nukke is keeping him busy.
Nukke gets full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nukke tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nukke looking to control.
Nukke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hach pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nukke is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hach cracks Nukke with a good jab.
A combination from Nukke does no damage.
Hach throws an overhand right that lands on Nukke's shoulder, as Nukke tries to avoid the shot.
Hach moves out of range as Nukke strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nukke. Hach does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nukke on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Hach lands with a good body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nukke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Olki Nukke is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hach has a takedown stuffed.
Nukke throws a series of punches but Hach avoids them all with ease.
Hach slips a jab and a cross from Nukke.
Nukke takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Nukke avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hach jabs at Nukke's body.
Hach scores with a nice head shot.
Nukke throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nukke ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hach slips a jab from Nukke.
Nukke listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Hach shoots in and bounces Nukke off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hach stands up over Nukke, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hach slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Nukke prevents Hach from improving position.

Hach tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hach has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nukke manages to get back to half guard.
Nukke moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nukke keeping moving, preventing Hach from controlling successfully.
Hach not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nukke keeping full guard, as Hach tries to pass.
Nukke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Hach showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Nukke on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Nukke swings away with a body shot that misses
and Hach counters with a straight right hand.
Hach scores with a shot to the body.
Hach avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nukke misses with a wild combination.
Hach just misses with a punch to the body.
Hach throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nukke stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nukke throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hach lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nukke misses with a series of wild punches.
No joy there for Hach, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nukke misses with a body shot
and Hach counters with a stiff right hand.
A slow jab from Nukke misses its intended target.
Hach drops his hands momentarily and Nukke takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Olki Nukke is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hach does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hach misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hach slips under a jab from Nukke.
Hach shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nukke as he jumps to the side.
Nukke connects with a nice looking jab.
Hach tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nukke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hach somewhat.
Olki Nukke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinton Hach.
Nukke clobbers Hach with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Nukke scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A swing and a miss from Nukke.
Nukke jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nukke fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nukke misses with a wild combination.
Hach takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hach closes the distance and clinches up with Nukke, looking for a takedown. Hach pushes Nukke against the cage but Nukke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Olki Nukke has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hach slips a jab and a cross from Nukke.
Nukke throws a looping overhand right but Hach ducks down to avoid it.
Hach lands a nice hook to Nukke's body. Nukke takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nukke lands a nice shot to the body.
Hach closes the distance and clinches up with Nukke, looking for a takedown. Hach pushes Nukke against the cage but Nukke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jab by Hach.
Hach dips to his left and cracks Nukke with an uppercut!
Hach looks to land a left hand but Nukke moved out of range nicely.
Nukke misses with a straight left.
Hach misses with an uppercut.
Hach lands a right hook to the body.
Hach gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hach closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hach lands in his opponent's guard.
Nukke keeping moving, preventing Hach from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nukke can't keep his opponent in guard - Hach advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hach wants to pass to mount but Nukke is defending the position.
Hach looks to land a strike but Nukke avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Nukke throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Nukke working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hach doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hach manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hach passes Nukke's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Nukke is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hach not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hach winds up and cracks Nukke with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hach trying to control the action but Nukke is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Olki Nukke showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hach has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
