The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gattuso checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Laiho looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Gattuso closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gattuso lands a knee to the head.

It looks like Tatu Laiho has been cut.
Gattuso avoiding damage as Laiho throws knees to the body.
Laiho wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gattuso has him pressed against the cage.
Gattuso looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Gattuso decides to pull guard.
Gattuso looking to hit a scissor sweep but Laiho is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gattuso is on top in guard.
Gattuso postures up.
Gattuso controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gattuso passes Laiho's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gattuso with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ground and pound from Gattuso.
Gattuso is controlling the pace.
Gattuso winds up and cracks Laiho with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gattuso lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Gattuso is taking a breather. Laiho says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gattuso trying to mount his opponent but Laiho defends it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gattuso in particular looking to stall.

Despite being in the dominant position, Wesley Gattuso just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gattuso forces Laiho back against the cage and clinches.

Gattuso goes for a takedown attempt but Laiho pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

A bit of stalling here from Gattuso.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gattuso.
Gattuso tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Gattuso has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Laiho clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
What can Laiho do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Gattuso lands a shot to the body.

Gattuso biding his time, looking for the opening.
Laiho is taking damage to the body and head.
Gattuso controlling the position well here. Laiho rolled but Gattuso kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Gattuso is punishing Laiho with strikes - can he finish him?!
I would not like to be Laiho right now.

Gattuso closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Gattuso seems content to control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Wesley Gattuso just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gattuso throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gattuso fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Laiho, pushing him back against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Gattuso.
Gattuso with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Gattuso lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Laiho backwards.
Gattuso tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Gattuso lands a hook that snaps the head of Laiho backwards.
Gattuso scores with a knee to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gattuso pulls Laiho into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gattuso tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gattuso looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gattuso is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gattuso has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Laiho doesn't defend quickly enough and Gattuso has managed to lock this one up! Can Laiho escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Gattuso on a fantastic submission victory.
