The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir slaps away a takedown attempt from Emelienko, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Emelienko avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mir throws a series of punches but Emelienko avoids them all with ease.
Mir stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mir wants it to stay on the feet.
Mir looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Emelienko shoots in looking for a takedown. Mir tries to sprawl out of it but Emelienko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mir manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Frank Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Emelienko.
Mir throws a nice looking combination but Emelienko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Emelienko dives in and grabs Mir's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mir pushes down on Emelienko's head and hops out.
Emelienko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Mir bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Emelienko! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


It looks like Fedor Emelienko has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Emelienko has a closed guard, preventing Mir from standing up.

Emelienko had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mir defends it easily.
Emelienko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mir would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Emelienko is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Mir has his hands clasped together but Emelienko extends an breaks Mir's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Emelienko.
