Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rigor Mortiz!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mortiz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Paul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mortiz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Paul uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Mortiz shoots for a takedown but Paul saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
No luck for Mortiz with that takedown attempt.
Mortiz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Paul circles away.
Paul Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rigor Mortiz.
Mortiz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Good shot there by Paul.
Paul stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paul wants it to stay on the feet.
Mortiz looks gassed!

Paul changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mortiz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Paul looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Paul decides to stand back up. Paul steps back and let's Mortiz get back to his feet.

Paul drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paul is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mortiz will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Mortiz throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Paul content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Mortiz tries to improve position but can't.
Paul will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Paul working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mortiz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mortiz throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Mortiz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Paul's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Paul's back!
Mortiz controlling well, preventing Paul from escaping the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mortiz scores with punches from the back.
Paul grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Mortiz doesn't have the hooks in and Paul manages to turn into his guard.
Paul trying to control the position from guard on top but Mortiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Paul gets to his feet. Mortiz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mortiz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mortiz misses with a takedown attempt

and Paul counters with a shoot takedown. Mortiz fights it but they end up in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mortiz lands some strikes from the bottom.
Paul slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Mortiz.
Mortiz throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paul in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mortiz tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Paul!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul Paul!
