PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sven Verdek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rainer Killeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rainer Killeri was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Verdek scores a takedown into full mount!

Verdek is working for a guillotine from mount but Killeri frees his head quite easily.
Killeri can't escape the position.
Verdek sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Verdek goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Killeri is on top in guard.
Killeri is looking to stand up but Verdek won't let him.

Killeri gets to his feet - Verdek follows without any prompting.
Killeri avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Killeri gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Verdek counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Verdek postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Verdek drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Verdek jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Verdek pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Killeri is keeping the position for now.
Verdek is breathing heavily.
Killeri keeping moving, preventing Verdek from controlling successfully.

Killeri has his foot on Verdek's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Verdek works his way back into a safe position though.
Verdek thows a big elbow that misses.
Verdek working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Verdek wants to control from the top but Killeri keeps moving.
Verdek forces his way into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Verdek missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Killeri is staying active underneath Verdek, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Verdek could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Verdek passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Killeri!
Killeri is looking to get to half guard.
Verdek avoids the attempt from Killeri to control.
Killeri is desperately trying to improve his position but Verdek has a good base and remains in mount.

Verdek is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Killeri is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Killeri flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Verdek anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Killeri and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Verdek slips an arm under Killeri chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Verdek has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Verdek is squeezing on Killeri like an anaconda would it's prey. Killeri fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
