The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakutara shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ogenawa as he avoids it easily.

Ogenawa feints and as Sakutara raises his hands in defense, Ogenawa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ogenawa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ogenawa drops back looking for a leg! Sakutara is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sakutara manages to kick Ogenawa off! Ogenawa jumps back into Sakutara's guard.
Ogenawa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sakutara sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ogenawa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sakutara is just riding it out for now. Ogenawa eventually gives up the hold.
Ogenawa is trying to control the action in half guard but Sakutara is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Ogenawa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Ogenawa is looking to advance position but Sakutara has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ogenawa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sakutara has hold of Ogenawa's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ogenawa manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sakutara prevents Ogenawa from getting the reversal.
Sakutara tries to control but Ogenawa wriggling away.
Sakutara takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ogenawa has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
