PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Bair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bair has chosen Not Afraid-Eminem as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sean Spencer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Bair!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bair ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spencer moves away.

Bair looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Spencer!
Spencer tries to lock up and control but Bair gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bair should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bair trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Bair goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Spencer turns into him and now he's in Bair's guard.
Spencer prevents Bair from getting back to his feet.
Spencer pushes down on Bair's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Bair is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bair is not content to let Spencer control the position.

Spencer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Spencer tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Bair.

Bair manages to escape and get back to his feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bair scores with a takedown into Spencer's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spencer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bair works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bair stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Spencer fails with the takedown

and Bair counters with a shoot takedown. Spencer fights it but they end up in guard.

Spencer is trying to control the position but Bair postures up.
Spencer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bair passes Spencer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Spencer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bair is working away from the top position though.
Bair stops Spencer from getting back to his feet.
Spencer is breathing heavily.

Spencer is looking for a sweep. Bair is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bair misses with a wild body shot.

Bair feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Spencer controls Bair momentarily but Bair frees himself.
Bair is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Bair lands a couple of elbows.
Spencer is trying to keep Bair in close.

Bair is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Spencer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Spencer has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Spencer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bair looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bair looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bair!

Bair thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Spencer tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Bair easily slips into full mount!

David Bair showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Bair working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spencer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spencer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bair has his feet on Spencer's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

David Bair comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bair has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
