Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Sparrow has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Sparrow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, BJJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparrow tries a head kick but it misses.
Penn shoots in but no luck this time.
Penn blocks the body kick.
Jack Sparrow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sparrow missing with a left hand there. Penn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Sparrow sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sparrow gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Penn to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Penn wants to control from the top but Sparrow keeps moving.

Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sparrow wants to stand and escape but Penn is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sparrow is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Penn dives into side control.

Penn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Penn goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sparrow rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Penn's guard! Nice work there by Sparrow!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Penn has a closed guard, preventing Sparrow from standing up.
Sparrow knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.
Penn controls Sparrow momentarily but Sparrow frees himself.
Sparrow wants to stand but Penn is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Penn looks gassed!

Sparrow stands up from Penn's guard - Sparrow perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sparrow tries to close the distance and clinch but Penn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sparrow clinches.
Knees to the body from Sparrow.

Sparrow gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Sparrow wanted to stand there but Penn had control of the position.
Penn trying to keep a closed guard but Sparrow is proving a slippery customer.

Penn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sparrow postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Penn is looking for a triangle but Sparrow pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Sparrow dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sparrow misses with a few strikes there.
Sparrow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sparrow connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Sparrow scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sparrow connects with a good right hand that stumbles Penn. Penn circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A left lands for Sparrow.
Sparrow lands with an uppercut that bounces Penn off the cage and back into rage.
Penn takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Sparrow moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penn takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Penn takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Penn on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Sparrow rushes Penn and presses him up against the cage.

Sparrow ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sparrow no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Penn looking to sit in guard and control but Sparrow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penn trying to keep a closed guard but Sparrow is proving a slippery customer.
Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Penn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sparrow defends well.
Sparrow is looking to stand up but Penn won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Penn is controlling Sparrow's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Danga de danga de dang - Sparrow scores with a four punch combination!
Jack Sparrow is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sparrow. Penn does a little dance to reset his feet.

Sparrow gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Penn controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Penn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sparrow is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Penn, into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Penn throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Sparrow dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Penn takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Sparrow scoring well with a low kick there.
Penn with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sparrow to score with a decent uppercut.
Sparrow misses with a kick to the body.
Sparrow ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Penn moves away.
Sparrow lands with a kick to the ribs.
Sparrow connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Sparrow scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
A head kick misses from Sparrow.
Sparrow tries a head kick but it misses.
Sparrow lands a nice looking body kick.
Penn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sparrow as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sparrow misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sparrow throws a right and a left that both miss.
Penn avoids a kick to the body.
Penn fails with a takedown attempt.
Jack Sparrow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJJ Penn.
Sparrow tries to land a front kick but Penn steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A punch combination from Sparrow misses.

Penn shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sparrow napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Penn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sparrow keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Penn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Penn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn wants to control but Sparrow is keeping him busy.
Jack Sparrow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Penn is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Sparrow is trying to escape and Penn transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Sparrow is forced to tap! Nice work there by Penn! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). BJJ Penn!
