The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi stuffs the takedown attempt from Cote. Cote gets slowly back to his feet.
Gomi moves in looking to clinch but Cote pushes him off.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cote wants to free his trapped foot but Gomi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Despite being in the dominant position, Patrick Cote just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gomi lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Gomi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Patrick Cote has been cut.
Cote looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gomi is fending him off so far but Cote persists. Nope, Gomi circles away and we're back to standing.
No joy there for Gomi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
