PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grant Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pabpy Obeh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obeh is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Quake 2 Big Guns. Pabpy Obeh told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kennedy feints and as Obeh raises his hands in defense, Kennedy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Obeh pulls Kennedy in close to prevent any damage.
Kennedy wants to pass the guard but Obeh is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Obeh can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kennedy has gone for a leg lock! Obeh slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kennedy's guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Obeh connects with a nice short shot to Kennedy's temple.

Kennedy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Obeh pulls his head out easily.

Obeh drops Kennedy with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kennedy looks back up at him and smiles so Obeh waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Grant Kennedy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Obeh, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Obeh scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kennedy doesn't seem bothered though.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Obeh, as that shot connected.

Obeh tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kennedy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
