PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Ravia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henric Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andersen has chosen Sultans Of Swing as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Ravia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henric Andersen!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Andersen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ravia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Andersen is one step ahead there.
Andersen wants to control from the top but Ravia keeps moving.

Andersen drops back looking for a leg! Ravia is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ravia manages to kick Andersen off! Andersen jumps back into Ravia's guard.
Ravia not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Andersen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Ravia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Andersen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ravia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Andersen smiles and moves away.

Ravia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ravia prevents Andersen from escaping the position.

Ravia goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Andersen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ravia but great work by Andersen.
Andersen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ravia keeps working.
Ravia sneaks back into half guard.
Ravia avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Andersen.

Andersen wants to stand but Ravia has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Ravia manages to get to full guard.

Ravia lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Andersen!
Ravia wants to get back to his feet but Andersen is holding on tight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Andersen is looking to improve his position but Ravia isn't that keen on the idea.
Ravia throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Andersen is working to get back to half guard.
Andersen tries to hold on but Ravia postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ravia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Andersen was covering up waiting for the punch and Ravia finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Andersen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ravia.

Ravia got a little sloppy there for a moment and Andersen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ravia has managed to get both his arms back between Andersen's legs - danger averted.

Andersen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ravia is aware though and is defending well.
Ravia loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Andersen looking for a guillotine here but Ravia defends easily.
Ravia wants to pass the guard but Andersen is keeping the position.
Antonio Ravia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Henric Andersen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Andersen is on top in guard.

I would just about give that final round to Henric Andersen.
I've got Andersen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
