The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNiff fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some wild striking there from McNiff.
McNiff misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Michaels is looking to clinch.
Michaels tries to clinch but McNiff moves out of range.
Michaels moves in looking to clinch but McNiff pushes him off.
Michaels throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McNiff's waist but McNiff gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Michaels off to one side.
Michaels tries to work over McNiff's front leg with a kick but McNiff checks it.

Michaels has taken the fight to the clinch.
McNiff wants to get back to striking at distance but Michaels won't allow it.
McNiff wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Michaels has him pressed against the cage.

Michaels manages to break the clinch.
Michaels tries to clinch up but McNiff circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McNiff throws a nice looking combination but Michaels bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

It looks like Jason Michaels has been cut.
Michaels tries to clinch up but McNiff circles away and keeps his distance.

Michaels closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McNiff to the mat! McNiff manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fight stays on the outside here - Michaels looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Donk. McNiff catches Michaels right on the button with a cross.
Michaels shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McNiff but McNiff pushes him off and we're back to square one.

McNiff lands with a nice combination. Michaels backs away looking to recover.
McNiff connects with a superb combination that knocks Michaels out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles McNiff before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Michaels!
