PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ludwig Longhorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cory Allen struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ludwig Longhorn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cory Allen!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Longhorn looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
No luck for Longhorn with that takedown attempt.
Allen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Longhorn circles away quickly and effectively.
Good shot there by Allen.
Longhorn moves out of range of the body kick.

Longhorn shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Allen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Longhorn prevents Allen from getting back to his feet.
Allen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Longhorn.
Allen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Allen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Longhorn is looking to get to half guard.

Allen with a couple of short strikes.
Allen looking to control and managing it successfully.
BOOM! Allen connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Allen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Longhorn is surviving well by controlling Allen's body position as best he can.
Longhorn is bucking up trying to escape but Allen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Allen scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Longhorn?
Allen lands a heavy elbow.
Longhorn is looking to improve his position but Allen isn't that keen on the idea.

Allen get's back to his feet.

Longhorn gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Allen.
Allen misses with a wild body shot.
Allen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Allen throws a nice looking combination but Longhorn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A head kick misses from Allen.
Longhorn avoids the head kick by Allen.
Allen throws a hook to the side of Longhorn's head but Longhorn sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Allen digs a good body shot into Longhorn's ribs.
Allen throws a shot to the body.
Longhorn ducks right into an uppercut from Allen.

Allen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Longhorn avoids a kick to the body.
Allen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
A nice combination there by Allen.
Longhorn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Allen sprawls well. Allen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Longhorn gets slowly back to his feet.
Longhorn takes one to the chin there.
Allen cracks a nice hook into Longhorn's ribs.
Allen leaves Longhorn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Longhorn checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Allen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A nice combination there by Allen.
Longhorn shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Allen throws a leg kick but Longhorn sees it coming and moves out of range.
Allen works over Longhorn's head and body with a nice combination.

Allen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Longhorn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Longhorn is trying to keep Allen in close.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Longhorn working for a triangle but Allen defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Allen wants to get up but he can't break Longhorn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Longhorn blocks a leg kick.
Allen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Longhorn needs to keep his hands up - Allen had a free shot at his head there.
Longhorn slips a jab and a cross from Allen.

Allen looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Longhorn has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Allen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Longhorn.
Longhorn is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen scores with a couple of short elbows.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Longhorn is not content to let Allen control the position.

Allen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Longhorn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Allen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Allen is keen to just control but Longhorn is a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Allen lands a jab to the nose.

Longhorn gets caught flat footed, as Allen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Allen wants to control from the top but Longhorn keeps moving.
Allen tries to stand but Longhorn is controlling from the bottom.
Longhorn is trying to control the position but Allen postures up.

Longhorn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Allen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Allen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Longhorn has his foot on Allen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Allen works his way back into a safe position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Allen lands with a hook. Longhorn tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Allen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Allen is trying to control the action in half guard but Longhorn is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Allen is nestled in close to Longhorn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Longhorn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Allen pulls his head out easily.

Allen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Longhorn sees it coming and defends easily.

Cory Allen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Longhorn shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Allen counters with a series of strikes. Longhorn will be more careful next time no doubt.

Longhorn regains half guard there - taking advantage of Allen's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Allen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ludwig Longhorn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cory Allen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well Allen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
