Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Winer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Svensson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Winer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Svensson!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Svensson.
Svensson looks for a takedown but Winer sprawls well.
Svensson shoots in for a takedown but Winer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
No joy there for Winer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Svensson slips a jab and a cross from Winer.
Winer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Winer throws a series of punches but Svensson moves out of range.
Svensson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Winer as he jumps to the side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Svensson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Svensson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Winer's waist but Winer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Svensson off to one side.

Svensson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Winer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Svensson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Winer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Winer is trying to work for a sweep but Svensson has mounted him!
Svensson is landing with some decent strikes but Winer is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Poor strikes thrown by Svensson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The referee warns Winer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Winer is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Svensson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Svensson shoots in but Winer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Winer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Winer misses with a wild combination.
Dan Svensson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Svensson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Winer's half guard.

Svensson wants to work for an arm triangle but Winer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Winer is trying to control but can't.
Winer won't allow Svensson to pass to mount.
Svensson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Winer is looking for a sweep. Svensson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Svensson is working for a submission of some sort.
Svensson is breathing heavily.
Winer pushes Svensson off looking to stand but Svensson dives back in and keeps control.

Winer kicks Svensson off and gets back to his feet.
Svensson takes a swing at Winer's ribcage but misses.
Winer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Svensson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Winer avoids it really well and circles away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A combination from Winer does no damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Svensson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Winer pinned against the cage. Winer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

so Svensson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Svensson tries to pass to full mount but Winer defends it.
Winer tries to get to full guard but Svensson has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck for Svensson with that takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dan Svensson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Svensson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
