The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salek wants to clinch.

Hernandez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hernandez lands in his opponent's guard.
Hernandez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hernandez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hernandez postures up in Salek's guard and throws a big left but Salek blocks it.
Hernandez throws a strike but Salek rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hernandez can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hernandez slips a straight right by Salek.
Salek wants to clinch.
Salek keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hernandez throws a nice looking combination but Salek bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hernandez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Salek looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hernandez lands some shots froms side control.
Hernandez throws an elbow but Salek slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hernandez scores with a couple of short elbows.

Hernandez cracks Salek with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Hernandez throwing strikes but Salek manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Hernandez is looking to regain half guard here but Salek keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Hernandez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hernandez scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Salek is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hernandez can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
