PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Luda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Israel Kamakawiwo’ole kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as DJ Penn enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luda lands a head kick. Penn smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Penn takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Penn lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Luda lands a nice leg kick that just misses Penn's sensitive parts.
Luda connects with a body shot.
Luda scores with a decent looking hook.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Luda. Penn shrugs it off though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Penn lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Luda has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Luda and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Luda throws a leg kick which misses Penn's front leg but catches the back leg as Penn tries to avoid it.
Luda scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Good leg kick by Luda there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Luda lands with a nice body punch.
Penn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Penn on the wrong end of a nice jab.

It looks like DJ Penn has been cut.
Penn looks gassed!
Penn walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Luda checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Luda lands a jab to the nose.
Luda avoids the body shot from Penn.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Luda lands a nice shot to the body.
Christopher Luda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A jab lands there for Luda.
Luda blocks a leg kick.
Penn swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Luda counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Penn is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Penn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Luda circles away quickly and effectively.
No joy there for Luda, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Luda is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Penn seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Luda shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Penn is backing up but Luda catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Penn covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Luda Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
