Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luca Brasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Souza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luca Brasi!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brasi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Souza sprawls well initially but Brasi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Brasi is nestled in close to Souza, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Brasi misses with a head shot. Souza uses the momentum to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brasi wants to control from the top but Souza keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brasi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brasi won't allow Souza to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Souza slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.


It looks like Luca Brasi has been cut.
Souza dodges the punch combination from Brasi.
Souza avoids a punch combination nicely.
Brasi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Anderson Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Souza counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Souza lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Brasi misses with a few strikes there.
Brasi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Brasi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Brasi tries to pass to full mount but Souza defends it.

Brasi looks to land a strike but Souza avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Brasi won't allow Souza to get back to his feet.
Brasi's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Brasi is working Souza over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Souza is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Brasi scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
I looks like Brasi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Luca Brasi just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Souza looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Souza will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A jab lands there for Brasi.
Brasi slips a jab and a cross from Souza.
Brasi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Brasi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Souza looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brasi throws a strike aimed at the side of Souza's head but Souza avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Luca Brasi will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Souza swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Brasi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brasi in particular looking to stall.

Souza pushes Brasi off looking to stand but Brasi dives back in and keeps control.

Souza misses with a combination

and Brasi counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Souza wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brasi has him pressed against the cage.
Souza wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Brasi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brasi fails to land with a series of punches.

Brasi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brasi lands a strong strike to the head of Souza. That's dazed him! Brasi looking to finish here. Souza is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Brasi lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Luca Brasi!
