Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, John Green!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Grantham.

Green tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grantham paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Green closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Grantham to the mat! Grantham manages to get full guard.

Green drops back, looking for a kneebar! Grantham looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Grantham looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Grantham!

Grantham is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Green gets his way!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Green has got his arm under Grantham's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Grantham has spun round into Green's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Grantham gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

John Green showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Grantham takes the fight into the clinch.
Green tries to pull guard but Grantham won't allow it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Green.
Grantham tries a knee to the head but Green blocks it.

Grantham is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Grantham has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Green clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Green breaks Grantham's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Green wants to get up but he can't break Grantham's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Grantham is working an open guard so Green takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Grantham connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grantham throws a head kick but Green moves out of range.

Grantham shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Grantham was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Grantham jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Green is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Green and Grantham has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Grantham is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Green knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Grantham got a little sloppy there for a moment and Green has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grantham has managed to get both his arms back between Green's legs - danger averted.
John Green has got the better of the ground game so far.

Green gets to his feet. Grantham looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Green has his takedown stuffed

so Grantham counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Grantham with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Green is looking to stand up but Grantham isn't so interested in that idea.
Grantham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Green swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Grantham is pushing down on Green's leg trying to pass to half guard. Green is fighting to maintain full guard but Grantham has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gray Grantham.
Well Grantham has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
