These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams throws a low kick but Benoit avoids it.
Adams plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Matthieu Benoit has been cut.
Adams throws a head kick that misses.

Adams tries to clinch but Benoit is having none of it.
Adams walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Adams has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Adams takes one on the button.
Adams tries to land a leg kick but Benoit saw it coming and moves away.

Benoit closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Benoit is working to tighten is grip on Adams's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Adams has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Benoit is really squeezing tight and eventually Adams passes out! Benoit breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
