PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Davey Newsome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jzk Crock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newsome comes into the arena with Hurt blaring out of the sound system. Crock has chosen raaah Crock-time! as his entrance music. Jzk Crock told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crock fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Crock throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Crock throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Newsome.
Crock misses with a wild body shot.
Crock throws a lazy right hand but Newsome sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Newsome ducks under a wild hook from Crock.

Newsome throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Crock was covering up waiting for the punch and Newsome finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Crock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Newsome defends it easily.
Newsome sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Crock's guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Newsome lands a nice short elbow.

It looks like Jzk Crock has been cut.
Crock tries to get to full guard but Newsome has control of the leg.
Crock trying to control but Newsome postures up.
Newsome not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Newsome knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crock on the ground.

Crock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Crock moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Newsome wants to pass the guard but Crock is keeping the position.
Crock throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Newsome throws a big right hand that misses.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Crock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Newsome circles away quickly and effectively.
Newsome shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crock as he jumps to the side.
Horrible takedown by Newsome or perhaps it was just good defense by Crock which made him look bad.
Crock lands a right hook to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Newsome, as that shot connected.
Newsome closes the distance and clinches up with Crock, looking for a takedown. Newsome pushes Crock against the cage but Crock circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davey Newsome. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crock lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Crock swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Crock throws a series of punches but Newsome avoids them all with ease.
Jzk Crock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Newsome feints and as Crock raises his hands in defense, Newsome changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Newsome working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Crock's head.

Newsome chips away with some ground and pound.
Newsome has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Crock escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Newsome gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Newsome postures up in Crock's guard and throws a big left but Crock blocks it.

Newsome distracts Crock with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Crock has momentary wrist control but Newsome slips an elbow through the middle.

Newsome works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Newsome landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Crock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Newsome slips a nice elbow through Crock's hands, connecting with Crock's forehead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
