Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Watts!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zaq Wu Sang!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watts cracks Wu Sang with an open hand slap.
Watts misses with a series of wild punches.
Watts thows a left - swing and a miss!
Wu Sang lunges at Watts with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Watts's hand.
Watts throws a right and a left that both miss.
Watts fails to land with a series of punches.
A punch combination from Watts misses.
Watts scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Wu Sang shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Wu Sang goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Watts is on top in guard.
Watts is looking to stand up but Wu Sang won't let him.

Wu Sang looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Watts puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wu Sang wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Good control from Watts.
You can see the frustration on Wu Sang's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Watts is looking to control Wu Sang but Wu Sang is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Watts has the hooks in. Wu Sang is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That was a close round but I would say that Ken Watts will probably get the nod.

Watts moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Wu Sang drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Watts manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wu Sang has Watts in his guard.
Watts has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wu Sang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Watts is aware though and is defending well.
Watts would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Watts stands up and waves to Wu Sang to follow him.
Ken Watts is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Watts smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Wu Sang gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Watts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Watts dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Wu Sang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Watts.
Watts is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Wu Sang walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Watts tries to bum rush Wu Sang with a series of wild strikes but Wu Sang uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Wu Sang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Wu Sang slips a jab and a cross from Watts.
Watts rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wu Sang moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Watts throws a body punch but Wu Sang moves out of range.
Ken Watts is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wu Sang has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Wu Sang looks to throw the jab but Watts is out of range.

Ken Watts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zaq Wu Sang.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Watts, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
