Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermaine Event (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Event's choice of entrance music: Eazy E - Real M***** F****** G's. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jermaine Event was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jermaine Event!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Event throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Event throws a head kick but Brooks moves out of range.
Event tries to bum rush Brooks with a series of wild strikes but Brooks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Brooks shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Event's guard.
Brooks is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Brooks throws a big right hand that misses.
Brooks looking to pass the guard.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Event is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Event has his foot on Brooks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brooks works his way back into a safe position though.

Event wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Event tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Event throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Brooks throws a hook but Event avoids it easily.
Event looks for the body kick but Brooks saw that one coming.
Event keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Brooks blocks a head kick by Event.
Event looks gassed!
Event misses with a head kick.
Event misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jermaine Event seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brooks dodges the punch combination from Event.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brooks gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Brooks lands a nice short elbow.
Brooks seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Brooks could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Brooks moves nicely into side control.

Event is not content to let Brooks control the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Event sneaks back into half guard.
Event keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Brooks is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Brooks passes into side control, despite Event's attempt to control the position.
Brooks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Event keeps working.
Brooks creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Event tries to improve position but can't.
Brooks grinds an elbow into Event's temple.
Brooks cracks Event with a big elbow.
Event takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Event is looking for a sweep.
Brooks working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Brooks has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Brooks breaks from Event's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Event taking shots to the head.
Brooks lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Event hang on?
Brooks with shots to the head and body - Event looks very uncomfortable down there.
Event tries to lock up and control but Brooks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Brooks postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Event looks a forlorn figure.
Event tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Event defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Brooks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Event tries to lock up and control but Brooks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Eddie Brooks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee warns Event that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Event can't escape the position.

Brooks lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Brooks pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Brooks lands a big shot there that rocks Event but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Brooks scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Event?

Event is trying to escape the mount.
Event wants to hold on but Brooks pushes him away.
BOOM! Brooks connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Event is bucking up trying to escape but Brooks cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Brooks has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Event's face.
Event is working to get back to half guard.
Event slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Brooks working over Event with some ground and pound. Event looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Brooks takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Event is pressing down on Brooks's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Event is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Brooks is in close to Event's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Brooks throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Event works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brooks works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Brooks is looking to take a break and control but Event is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Brooks thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Event's head.
Event is looking to improve his position.
Brooks wants to free his trapped foot but Event is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Brooks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Event pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Brooks dives in and grabs Event's left leg, looking for a takedown. Event pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.

Brooks clobbers Event with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Brooks avoids the head kick by Event.
Event tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Brooks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brooks showed some decent athleticism there.
Brooks is keen to just control but Event is a slippery customer.
Event tries to get to full guard but Brooks has control of the leg.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brooks thows a huge punch but Event dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Event manages to get to full guard.
Brooks landing with the ground and pound.

Brooks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Event manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brooks has Event in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Event stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brooks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Event seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Event pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brooks is keeping the position for now.
Brooks has Event pulled in close to control his posture.
Brooks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Event manages to get himself to full guard.
Jermaine Event has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brooks drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Brooks as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Event screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Brooks! Nice submission victory there!
