Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinton Johnson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Santos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Santos thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Santos lands a couple of digs.

Santos postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santos, into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Johnson is now in half guard.

Santos looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Santos wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Johnson tries to stand and escape but Santos is controlling the position.
Santos is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Johnson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Santos controls his leg.
Santos tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice sprawl there from Johnson as Santos shoots in.
Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
Santos takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Santos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Johnson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Santos stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing.
Santos takes one to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Johnson throws a sloppy head kick and Santos moves out of range easily.

Johnson drops Santos with a beautiful combination! Santos stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Johnson is looking for the KO!


It looks like John Santos has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Santos walks into a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Johnson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Santos's cut.
That's time! Santos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Santos sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Santos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Santos is controlling him.
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Santos is really struggling to control Johnson but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Santos won't allow Johnson to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Santos prevents Johnson from getting back to his feet.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.
Santos is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johnson throws a quick inside leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson lands with a nice combination. Santos backs away looking to recover.

Santos shoots in and bounces Johnson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Santos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Santos looking to pass the guard.
Santos slips nicely into half guard.
Santos perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johnson tries to kick Santos off but Santos keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Santos passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Johnson!
Santos throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Santos wants to control but instead Johnson manages to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Johnson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Santos.

Santos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Santos has hold of Johnson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Johnson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Santos controlling his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Santos moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Johnson has worked his arm free - good work by Johnson!

Santos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Santos goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Santos but great work by Johnson.
Johnson tries to stand but Santos is controlling his head.

Johnson decides to stand back up. Johnson steps back and let's Santos get back to his feet.
John Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson lands with a cross.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson misses with the combination.
Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.
Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Santos.
Santos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.
Quinton Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Santos dodges the punch combination from Johnson.

Santos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Johnson is trying to defend but Santos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Quinton Johnson.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
