Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between KING KONG (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guapo Obispo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Guapo Obispo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, KING KONG!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Guapo Obispo!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obispo tries to clinch but KONG moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Obispo as KONG shoots in.
Obispo misses with a takedown attempt

and KONG counters with a nice double leg into side control. Obispo won't be happy with that.
Obispo is looking for a sweep.
KONG trying to control the action but Obispo is working from the bottom.
KONG in side control, throwing shots but Obispo defends.
KONG really is a fat lump.
KONG postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
KONG really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Obispo takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

KONG goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Obispo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for KONG but great work by Obispo.

Obispo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
KONG tries to bench press Obispo off him but Obispo keeps the position.
A lull in the action here.
KONG is looking to reverse the position.
KONG manages to get back to half guard.
KONG is trying to control but can't.
KONG gets full guard.
KONG might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Obispo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
KONG tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Obispo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Obispo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Obispo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Obispo trying to control the position but KONG is working away.
KONG tries to escape but Obispo is in control.
KONG gets back to half guard.
Obispo tries to pass the half guard into mount. KONG knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
KONG tries to roll over but Obispo keeps him under control.
KONG trying to control here.
Obispo wants to stand but KONG has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

KONG shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Obispo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
KONG throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Obispo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
KONG looking to pass the guard.

Obispo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. KONG gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Obispo looks gassed!
KONG trying to control the position from guard on top but Obispo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

KONG stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Obispo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
KONG wants to control from the top but Obispo keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
KONG loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
KONG wants to control from the top but Obispo keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

KING KONG dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


KONG is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Obispo leaves KONG with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Obispo thumps KONG with a low kick.
Obispo clinches but KONG breaks the clinch

and KONG counters with a takedown into side control.
KONG throwing strikes but Obispo manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Obispo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, KONG has escaped the position, nice work there.
KONG tries to improve position but can't.
KONG regains half guard.
Obispo tries to stand and escape but KONG is controlling the position.

KONG wants to improve his position but Obispo is controlling well.
KONG trying to hold on to Obispo's head to control him but Obispo postures up.

KONG kicks Obispo off and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Obispo wants to clinch but KONG slips to the side

and KONG counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Obispo looking to hit a scissor sweep but KONG is one step ahead there.
Obispo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
KONG trying to control the position from guard on top but Obispo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

KONG wants to pass the guard but Obispo is keeping the position.
Obispo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
KONG doesn't manage to clinch there - Obispo circles away.

and Obispo counters with a leg kick.
Obispo throws a low kick, looking for KONG's leg but KONG calmly moves out of range.

and KONG decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Obispo's guard.

Obispo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but KONG can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

KONG stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Obispo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

KONG works over Obispo with some ground and pound from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

KING KONG dominated that second round.
That's time! KONG's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Obispo closes the distance and clinches.
KONG tries for a takedown but Obispo manages to get underhooks.
KONG on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Obispo wants a takedown but no success here.

KONG turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and KONG manages to end up in side control.
The strikes coming from KONG are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
KONG wants to control but Obispo is keeping him busy.
Obispo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, KONG asserts his dominance and retains side control.

KONG goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Obispo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in KONG's guard! Nice work there by Obispo!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Obispo won't allow KONG to sweep him here.
KONG keeping moving, preventing Obispo from controlling successfully.

KONG working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Obispo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Obispo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Obispo postures up.

KONG had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Obispo defends it easily.

Obispo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on KONG, up you get!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Obispo rushes KONG and presses him up against the cage.
Obispo with a knee to the head.
KONG can't get the takedown.
Obispo misses with a knee strike.
Obispo putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has KONG in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Obispo slowing the pace effectively.
KONG fails to pull guard.

KONG is trying to drag Obispo to the mat but Obispo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Obispo misses with a knee strike.
Obispo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but KONG gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Obispo using the Thai plumb to throw knees but KONG has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
KONG misses with a short punch on the inside.
Obispo creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
KONG jumps guard but Obispo stands there with KONG around his waist. KONG gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
KONG jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Obispo walks away with a smile on his face. KONG gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

KONG shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

I would just about give that final round to Guapo Obispo.
I think KONG has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
