And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diego Lopez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whistler misses with a series of wild punches.

Lopez moves into the clinch.
Lopez stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Lopez is trying to break free.
Lopez lands a shot to the body.
Whistler is breathing heavily.
Lopez stalling against the cage.
Lopez tries to work over Whistler's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Lopez pushes Whistler back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Whistler tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Lopez is trying to break the clinch but Whistler has him pressed against the cage.
Lopez has had enough of the clinch but Whistler keeps him there for the moment.

Whistler successfully pulls guard.
Lopez wants to control from the top but Whistler keeps moving.
Whistler looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lopez is one step ahead there.
Lopez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lopez looking to pass the guard.
Whistler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lopez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lopez is looking to stand up but Whistler won't let him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lopez scores with a jab to the body.

Lopez lands a left and a right that send Whistler crashing to the mat, dazed. Lopez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Whistler is rocked!

It looks like John Whistler has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lopez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Oh Whistler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Lopez has cracked Whistler with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Lopez lands another huge swinging hook and Whistler tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Whistler, before Lopez can land any more shots!
