The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

St Pierre slaps away a takedown attempt from Khalidov, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Khalidov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Khalidov shoots for a takedown but St Pierre saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

St Pierre keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
St Pierre avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

St Pierre shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khalidov's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

St Pierre thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

St Pierre drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and St Pierre jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
St Pierre slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

St Pierre has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Khalidov is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. St Pierre yanks on the arm and Khalidov is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by St Pierre.
