Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between KK Kaytovitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, KK Kaytovitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Rua!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rua closes the distance and clinches.
Kaytovitch blocks an elbow strike from Rua.
Rua lands an elbow just above Kaytovitch 's eye.
Kaytovitch blocks an elbow strike.
Kaytovitch tries to pull guard but Rua won't allow it.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Rua.
Rua tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kaytovitch avoids it.
Kaytovitch jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rua walks away with a smile on his face. Kaytovitch gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kaytovitch tries to bum rush Rua with a series of wild strikes but Rua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Royce Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rua closes the distance and pushes Kaytovitch back into the cage.
Knees in the clinch landing for Rua.
Kaytovitch blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Kaytovitch has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Rua is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kaytovitch can't fight it off and eventually Rua manages to take the fight to the floor. Kaytovitch looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rua trying to control the position from guard on top but Kaytovitch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rua decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kaytovitch is breathing heavily.

Kaytovitch keeps the fight on the outside.

Rua closes the distance and clinches.
Kaytovitch can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KK Kaytovitch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rua putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Kaytovitch in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Rua is trying to trip Kaytovitch. He has hold of a leg but Kaytovitch is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rua persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Rua stands up and waves to Kaytovitch to follow him.

and Kaytovitch counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Rua closes the distance and clinches.

Rua has clasped his hands together around Kaytovitch's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rua wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kaytovitch, who protects the arm well.
Rua wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaytovitch keeps working.
Kaytovitch manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rua is pressing down on Kaytovitch's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rua is working an open guard so Kaytovitch takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kaytovitch fails to land with a series of punches.
Rua avoids the body shot from Kaytovitch.
Kaytovitch ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rua moves away.
Rua gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Rua moves into the clinch successfully.
Rua creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kaytovitch's defenses.
Kaytovitch tries to pull guard but Rua won't allow it.
Rua's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Rua unloads a knee to the mid-section.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rua has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kaytovitch regains guard immediately.
Kaytovitch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rua drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kaytovitch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rua has Kaytovitch in his guard.

Rua is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kaytovitch has his hands clasped together but Rua extends an breaks Kaytovitch's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rua.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Royce Rua!
